Description |
||||
Here's a bicolor narrowband version of a well known emission nebula in Cepheus, NGC 7822. The image was assembled from just Ha and OIII data, representing the red and blue channels, respectively -- the green channel was synthesized from the other two using a method in Photoshop. The bright central portion, in Mazlin's opinion, resembles an old Mercury or Gemini command module on a fiery re-entry into the earth's atmosphere -- click HERE for a more graphic representation! Mazlin started acquiring data for this image in 2008 at New Mexico Skies, and completed data gathering in the fall of 2015 from his backyard observatory in Pennsylvania. |
