Description |
||||
This is an image of M82, the Cigar Galaxy. I had tried this a couple times and never been satisfied. I think this image is finally reasonable. May go back and try to Optimize the Lum data a bit. Think there may be some more details that I could get with some deconvolution. Still and all, the tendrils come out pretty good here and I think the color is about right. I used some of the color data that Lewis (I think) had gathered much earlier this year since the galaxy is getting too low now to get more good data. M82 is a starburst galaxy located about 12 million light years away in Ursa Major. Note, some of this data was gathered while the Supernove was settling so there may be some slight artifacts due to this in a star in the galaxy. |
