Description |
||||
Here's CG4, a cometary globule in Puppis. Cometary globules bear superficial resemblance to comets, as least visually. They are relatively small areas of gas/dust in our Milky Way that frequently give birth to stars. This one takes the form of a head/face, seen on profile, and gives the impression that it is preparing to "eat" nearby galaxy PGC 21338 -- in reality, of course, PGC 21338 is merely near CG4 in terms of RA/DEC; it is millions of lightyears more distant.
