Description |
||||
NGC6674 is a small dim barred spiral galaxy that is located in the constellation Hercules. It lies at a distance of around 150 million light years away. This galaxy is one whose rotation curves have been studied to understand galaxy rotation. However, there aren't many image of this galaxy around. I used eXcalibrator to calculate the weightings for the different colors and the eXcalibrator coefficients were quite a bit different than our typical G2V coefficients for some reason. Note, though, that this galaxy is at a low galactic latitude and interstellar dimming may play a large role in this discrepancy (red did have to be diminished quite a bit more than nominal). A photometric analysis of NGC6674 can be found here. |
