Description |
||||
M88 is one of the galaxies that are part of the Virgo cluser of galaxies. It lies about 47 million light years away and spans a diameter of about 100,000 light years. This galaxy is classified as a Seyfert galaxy and contains a central black hole with about 80 million solar masses. The galaxy is in the constellation Coma Bernices. The color combination coefficients for this galaxy were generated using Bob Franke's eXcalibrator. The data was processed using PixInsight and Photoshop. I suspect that the addition of some Ha data might have brought out the redder regions of the galaxy a bit better. The blue star forming regions did come out ok but more data probably would have helped. |
