M36 is one of the three Messier star clusters in the constellation Auriga. This cluster contains about 60 stars, lies around 4100 light years away, and spans 14 light years. This cluster is about 25 million years old and contains rapidly rotating type B stars. This image was taken as part of testing a new computer at SSRO-North. |
