Description |
||||
Sh 2-212 is a emission nebula that is located in the constellation Perseus that kind of reminds one of the Cocoon nebula. This nebula contains the star cluster NGC 1624 and appears to be ionised by two stars - one O6 I and the other B1 III. A recent study has found that NGC 1624 is 4 million years old and lies at a distance of 6000 parsecs. If you look at this image, you can see that there is a faint nebulosity throughout this entire area. This can be seen better in microwave emissions here. Some observers have also seen this faint nebulosity through O3 filters. |
