Description |
||||
NGC 7635 is also known as the Bubble Nebula and Sharpless 162 . It is a HII region emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. It lies nearby M52, an open cluster. The "Bubble" is created by stellar winds from a massive, hot 8.7 magnitude young central star. The nebula is near a giant molecular cloud which contains the expansion of the bubble nebula while itself being excited by the hot central star, causing it to glow. It was discovered by F W Herschel in 1787. It requires extremely dark skies and apertures over 24" to be seen visually. (adapted from Wikipedia) |
