Description |
||||
Here is a rendition of the Sombrero Galaxy for your consideration. The image was processed with a progressive layering technique that shows rarely seen details surrounding the core, including some globular clusters. The luminance layer was actually a combination of the true luminance data with a synthetic luminance component from the RGB data. Sharpening was performed using a "restrained combination" of various methods, including LR decon, high pass filtering, unsharp masking, and wavelets. The result looks less like a sombrero, but avoids the burnt-out core typically seen in other versions of M104. |
