Description |
||||
M95 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation LEO. It lies about 38 million light years away and has a diameter of about 50,000 light years. M95 is a part of a group of galaxies that also contains M96 and M105 and a number of other fainter galaxies. Several of these fainter galaxies can be seen in the full size image of M95. It also contains a ring about the center that is about 2000 light years wide and is a location of star formation. The Hubble took several observations of Cephid variables in this galaxy in the late 1990's as part of a project to better determine the Hubble constant. |
