NGC 346 is a cluster with nebulosity in the Small Magellanic Cloud residing 210,000 light years distant in the constellation Tucana. It is considered one of the most spectacular objects in the SMC. This structure is a very active star forming region with populations of embryonic stars clustered along the dust lanes, and a large cluster of short lived but massive stars that release a torrent of energy seen in the wispy nebular regions.
